The Seven T’s of Generous Living

Julian Archer, the founder of Faith vs Finance and the author of Help! I’ve Been Blessed!, writes a regular blog titled The Bruised Camel (based on Mark 10:25). I thought his blog entry from August 2 was good enough to share with you!

I’ve spent much of the last few years traveling the globe sharing on the Biblical principles of generous living, and the impact of money on our spirituality. I started my journey with ‘The Three T’s of Stewardship’ -- Time, Talents and Treasure -- and have since identified a fourth, fifth and sixth T.

While sharing in the mountains of Arizona a few weeks ago, a conversation with some of the local Apache and Navajo people opened my eyes to the seventh T, so now I have the complete set!

We are to live generously with our:

    • Timethe present that is evenly given to everyone every day.
    • Talents – gifts and skills that bring joy and satisfaction.
    • Treasure – our material blessings to enjoy and share.
    • Testimony – our personal story of God’s presence in our life.
    • Temple – our body that God has trusted us to care for.
    • Territory – the environment, including our own backyard.
    • Tribe – our family, friends and global community.

These T’s are all things that God entrusts to us to be used carefully, prayerfully and for His glory. Paul said it beautifully, “whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God."

Live generously in all seven areas of your life.

Blessings, Julian

Verified Volunteers – Child Protection Screening

In cooperation with the Kansas Nebraska Conference, we are working with Verified Volunteers to provide background checks and on-line education for our church officers and everyone who works with our children. This helps ensure that we have some training to help us recognize and avoid situations that would put our children at risk. In addition to our elected Church Officers, everyone who works with Pathfinders and Adventurers, Children’s or Youth Sabbath School Classes, Children’s Church, and VBS must go through this training and submit to a background check (there is no cost to you). It will take about an hour of your time. These need to be finished ASAP.

Even if you have recently completed this process with Shield the Vulnerable, you need to do this now with Verified Volunteers because the information did not transfer from one program to the other and we are no longer using Shield the Vulnerable due to many problems with their work.

To download a PDF page of instructions and links to help you through this process, click here. To go to the website where you begin this process, click here and then select First-Time Registrant and follow the instructions. For more information, contact Pastor T (e-mail or 402-517-5333).
