Thank You Pathfinder/Adventurer Leaders!

We have one of the best Pathfinder/Adventurer programs I have ever seen – even in churches significantly larger than ours.

It’s a program kids love to participate in – many have even brought friends whose only connection to our church, is their relationship with one of our young people.

There is significant learning taking place in a fun environment. Kids are gaining skills they would not get anyplace else.

And, most importantly, serving Jesus is just one of those things they do. Our young people are catching a vision of Jesus that will help keep them connected with Him in the tough times of their lives.

This stuff doesn’t just happen, it’s part of a deliberate plan. It happens because we have a number of adults who volunteer a significant chunk of time to carry out this plan. And, it all works smoothly because we have two visionary leaders, Lori Knutson and Kalvin Tuel, who are investing their lives into it.

I, for one, am extremely grateful for their dedication and work here at our church. Most of us have no idea how much their lives are wrapped up in this and the amount of time it takes.

Thank you Lori and Kalvin for leading this ministry which makes such a big difference in the lives of our kids and their families!

And thank you to each person assisting – giving a part of themselves on a regular basis to make this program thrive.

If you’re grateful for them too – let them know!

Church Positions Available

We are looking for people to fill some vacant positions here at church. If you would be interested or would like to suggest someone for these jobs contact John Stroman (e-mail or 402-871-9764) or Pastor T (e-mail or 402-517-5333).

    • Head Deaconess: This person would coordinate the activities of our Deaconess Group. This would include preparation and participation in Communion services and may include arranging for things like flowers for people in the hospital, planning meals for funerals, and providing support and assistance to people in need.
    • Women’s Ministries: This person would work to connect with the women of our congregation and plan some events that would bring them together and provide mutual support. They would also be our contact person with the Conference Women’s Ministries Coordinator.
    • Webmaster: This person would keep our website updated with current news, announcements, and dates. It would be helpful to understand HTML a bit, but not completely necessary.
    • Social Media: If you are really into social media and would like to help our church have a greater visible presence there (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc.), please let us know.

Verified Volunteers Training – Sept. 15

All elected church officers and anyone who assists in any of our children’s/youth ministries (even occasionally) needs to complete this process.

Verified Volunteers – Child Protection Screening

In cooperation with the Kansas Nebraska Conference, we are working with Verified Volunteers to provide background checks and on-line education for our church officers and everyone who works with our children. This helps ensure that we have some training to help us recognize and avoid situations that would put our children at risk. In addition to our elected Church Officers, everyone who works with Pathfinders and Adventurers, Children’s or Youth Sabbath School Classes, Children’s Church, and VBS must go through this training and submit to a background check (there is no cost to you). It will take about an hour of your time. These need to be finished ASAP.

Even if you have recently completed this process with Shield the Vulnerable, you need to do this now with Verified Volunteers because the information did not transfer from one program to the other and we are no longer using Shield the Vulnerable due to many problems with their work.

To download a PDF page of instructions and links to help you through this process, click here. To go to the website where you begin this process, click here and then select First-Time Registrant and follow the instructions. For more information, contact Pastor T (e-mail or 402-517-5333).
